Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization

The SASTM Method is an advanced form of soft tissue mobilization, which utilizes hand held instruments to locate and release scar tissue and soft tissue adhesions that can’t be felt or treated by hands alone. The instruments are passed against the skin and muscle beneath and amplify the vibration of soft tissue restrictions that once located, can be quickly and effectively released. After the adhesion has been released, special immune system cells are attracted to the area and begin to clean away the debris and initiate the repair and remodeling of the tissue fibers so that normal function is restored. This method detects and treats fascial restrictions, encourages rapid localization of adhesions and effectively treats areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis, chronic inflammation, or degeneration.

Some of the common conditions and complaints that respond well to SASTM are:

  • Tennis/Golfers elbow
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Neck Pain
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Rotator Cuff Tendinitis
  • Patellar tendinits
  • Tibialis Posterior Tendinitis
  • Heel Pain/Achilles Tendinitis
  • DeQuervain’s Syndrome
  • Post-surgical and Traumatic Scars
  • Myofascial Pain and Restrictions

Both Mark and Caitlin are Certified in SASTM and you are welcome to schedule an appointment with either of them for this treatment. SASTM is also frequently incorporated into both the Aston-Patterning® and Acupuncture sessions as needed to achieve an optimal outcome.
